MedShare ships to Zambia

Today, Friday, December 11, 2009 a 40 foot container of medical supplies and equipment for ZAMBIA was shipped from MedShare’s Southeastern Region.  When the container arrives in early February 2010, the Zambia country office of the NGO CARE INTERNATIONAL will work with the Ministry of Health to distribute the donations to under-equipped clinics and hospitals in the region.  CARE Zambia supports several health centers  in the country, where malaria, tuberculosis, and malnutrition are widespread and 35% of the adult population is HIV positive.

The items in the MedShare container shipped today contained over one thousand individual pieces of supplies and equipment, including: stretchers, an anesthesia machine, oxygen regulators, an autoclave, stethoscopes, blood pressure monitors, exam lights, an electrosurgical unit, an infant warmer, bandages, gauze, surgical instruments, surgical drapes, patient gowns, scrubs, and much more!
