Twenty nursing students led by Nurse Garry Johnson from Samuel Merritt University held a packing party on Thursday, May 17, at MedShare’s Western Distribution Center. Nurse Garry and the students are leaving May 24 for a medical mission to a remote clinic in Luang Prabang, in Northern Laos.
Each year, Nurse Garry takes nursing students to Laos each year and uses MedShare as the source for their supplies. This is the second time they have had a packing party in preparation for their medical mission to Laos. They will primarily work in four rural villages at elementary schools, a clinic and a small local hospital. They will also establish their own clinic in a remote village for general assessment, a foot clinic and an eye clinic.
Every semester, Nurse Garry and a fresh crop of nursing students from Samuel Merritt University volunteer at MedShare to share their expertise and to learn a thing or two about all the supplies that we receive every day.
