MedShare Sends Two Containers to Ecuador

Guayaquil, Ecuador

On Friday, Dec. 3, MedShare’s Western Regional Distribution Center loaded and shipped two containers with medical humanitarian aid for the “El Oriente” region in the Amazon Basin of northeastern Ecuador.

Each container is carrying over 900 pieces of medical equipment and supplies that local doctors individually selected, such as walkers, crutches, Personal Energy Transport vehicles,  beds, nebulizers, crash carts, bandages, syringes, surgical drapes, and much more.  The materials will be distributed to small medical centers in the municipalities of Pastaza and Sucumbios, where a large percentage of the population are indigenous Amazonian people of limited means.  The local government-run clinics and hospitals struggle with a lack of supplies and equipment to care for their patients.

Special thanks to the Mayors of Sucumbios and Pastaza for their support, and to Dole Ocean Cargo Express for donating the ocean shipping of the containers from San Diego to Guayaquil port!
