Yannick Chaigneau and Shirley Lam of Santa Monica, CA are taking part in a Transcontinental Triathlon to benefit MedShare; their ultimate goal is to raise $20,000 to send a container of medical supplies and equipment to a needy health facility abroad. They’ve previously kayaked the Inside Passage and hiked the Pacific Crest Trail, and are leaving on Dec. 18 for their final leg, a 2,500 mi. bike ride from Los Angeles to Ushuaia, Argentina. The Santa Monica Daily Press profiled the couple and mentioned their partnership with MedShare; the article ran yesterday, and you can read it here.
In the December issue of Atlanta Magazine, Angele Hawkins was profiled in “Applaud 2010,” a section featuring eight stories of exceptional do-gooders, mentors, writers, designers, and leaders. Looking for a good place to channel her philanthropic energy, Hawkins began volunteering at MedShare six years ago. She went on to found New Hope Enterprises, a program aimed at replacing homeless with opportunity, and is now a staple in Atlanta’s philanthropic community. You can read the article here.
