Charity, service, option for the poor, social justice, faith in action—whatever you call it, it’s an important focus for faith-based organizations. MedShare’s Western Region hosted a breakfast on Tuesday for 20 faith leaders from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
These leaders had an opportunity to learn about MedShare’s work to improve lives and the environment in our local and global community. The meeting included a tour of our 54,000 sq. ft. Distribution and Volunteer Center where they observed community volunteers hard at work to help us sort the donated medical supplies we receive each day.
MedShare has a 15 year history of collaborating with faith communities from throughout the US and around the globe, to help deliver healthcare to the poorest of the poor. Terry Monday, Volunteer Programs Manager, and Chuck Haupt, Executive Director, hosted the event.
Attendees were from: St. Paschal Church, Bethel Presbyterian Church, St. Leander Church, Growing Healthy Churches, St. Joan of Arc Church, San Leandro Church of Christ, Holy Names University, Bay Area Chinese Bible Church, First United Methodist Church of San Leandro, St. Raymond Church, and the Just Faith Social Justice ministry from the Catholic Diocese of Oakland.
