MedShare Ships Container to Zambia

MedShare is happy to announce that thanks to the generous financial sponsorship of the One Sky Global Aid organization, a 40-foot container of donated medical supplies and equipment was shipped to Zambia from our Southeast warehouse on Monday, March 7.

The container is carrying over 12,000 boxes of supplies and equipment which were individually selected by Dr. Lackson Kasonka, Managing Hospital Director of University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka. With 1,800 in-patient beds, UTH is described as biggest central referral hospital in Zambia; however, the government struggles to provide the hospital with enough resources to meet the great need that exists. The container shipped yesterday will hopefully ease the burden a bit.

Some of the materials on the container include:

  • bandages
  • patient warming blankets
  • urinary catheters
  • chest tubes
  • gloves
  • needles
  • sutures
  • wheelchairs
  • thermometers
  • beds
  • defibrillator

Deep thanks to Mrs. Allison Viramontes of One Sky Global Aid and Chuck Haupt, Executive Director of MedShare’s Western Region, for making this humanitarian project a reality!
